With so many tough calls Saturday here are my best bets:
- Patrick Mahomes > Trevor Lawrence (+5.5 bonus)
This bonus is really a play on who throws more touchdowns. Lawrence threw four a week ago but that was a very odd game that also included four interceptions. I don’t see Lawrence throwing more than a pair today. Meanwhile, Mahomes will be clicking with Kelce and the crew for what I see as a four touchdown day. That’s right I’m calling four touchdowns. Who does that? This guy, that’s who.
- Isaiah Hodgins (+6.5 bonus) > A.J. Brown
Am I crazy? Is A.J. Brown losing a prop to a guy the Giants picked up off the street in Week 10? You’re damn right. This is all about the 6.5 bonus. While Brown is a threat to score on any play, Hodgins has shown his own nose for the endzone. He’s scored in three straight and five of his last six games. He’s the go-to guy for this New York passing game. In a spot where I think NY trails for most, Hodgins will get into the endzone to cover the bet.
- DeVonta Smith > Darius Slayton (+2.5 bonus)
To me, this is the best bet on the app. Smith is absolutely on fire of late. He’s gone over 100 yards in four of his last six games. Not only that but he’s getting an abundance of targets. Last year we complained that Smith was limited because of opportunities. That’s definitely not the case this year. Smith has seen eight targets minimally per game dating back to Week 10. Slayton’s hands are an issue but he’s also fallen to third in the pecking order behind Isaiah Hodgins and Richie James. The bonus points won’t make a difference here. Smith wins this side easily.
- Travis Kelce > Evan Engram (+1 bonus)
I had to double-check and make sure this was the right line. I’m smashing Kelce for this bet. The KC superstar hasn’t scored since Week 12 and that changes today. Last week the Jags allowed 109 yards and a score to the Chargers' Gerald Everett. Jacksonville has no answers for Kelce today. Engram is a great story and has been a target hog of late but the single bonus point isn’t enough for me. I said earlier that Mahomes will throw four touchdowns, well mark Kelce down for two of them.
